Introduction:
What is the church? How would you describe it? Does the church simply gather together, or does the church scatter itself abroad? Does Christ want us to focus on debates, programs, and strategies? Or is there more?
I. On Mandate, Mission and Mindset
What do we see when we consider God’s mandate for the church?
· The summary of Ephesians 3:8-12
· The summary of Romans 16:25-26.
The Bible presents the mandate, but how can Christians fulfill that mandate?
· On regeneration and desire
n The perspective of the psalmist
n The perspective of Paul. Question: If this is not happening, why is it not happening?
n Preparation of Christians
n Conditions and methods of churches
Summation and Challenge
What do we learn from this biblical review of the church’s mandate, mission, and mindset? According to Scripture, we must be (1) a hungry church; (2) an equipped church; and (3) an active and involved church. Question: How close are we to living out Christ’s mandate, mission, and mindset here at West Broad? What will you do to move us closer to the divine objective in 2010?
