Evaluating the Evolution of Evolution

July 20, 2008

We are perhaps familiar with the theory of evolution - the belief that present animals (humans included) evolved from lesser or earlier animals. Proponents of the theory hail Charles Darwin as their hero. There is only one problem with this position: Darwin’s work has major flaws and was largely rejected by scientists of the mid-1800s. Evidence of this is seen in the words of the renowned Canadian biologist, W.R. Thompson. Dr. Thompson indicated that Darwin produced no real experimental evidence and relied on speculative arguments. Why then is Darwinism such a pervasive idea? As Thompson wrote, “The success of Darwinism was accompanied by a decline in scientific integrity.” Ouch! After reading the book, Darwin’s own professor, Dr. Adam Sedgewick, wrote, “I have read your book with more pain than pleasure. Parts of it I admire greatly, parts I laughed at until my sides were sore; other parts I read with absolute sorrow because I think them false and grievously mischievous.” Darwin felt that he was superior and believed that two closely related people would produce superior children. He married his first cousin, Emma Wedgewood, and fathered ten children. Three of the children did not live to adulthood, and the others were mentally challenged and frequently ill. So much for “superior genes.” Darwin’s ideas and those who support them cannot stand against God’s truth. In point of fact, He is the creator (Acts 17:24-28 ) and true “Origin of the species.” Let’s all think about it, and be encouraged! -JLNJR (Resource: Gospel Advocate Magazine, 4/08, 38-39)
