A Bailout Plan that Means Something

February 28, 2009

You are familiar with the economic stimulus measure that recently became law.  Given the state of our economy, this measure was drastically needed.  Something had to be done to correct the great financial losses being experienced in our country.  But there is another great loss, and this one gets little attention.  It is the loss known as death.  Specifically, 4,581,556 people die each month.  That translates to 150,627 deaths per day.  6,276 people die in a single hour.  105 people (folks just like you and me) die each minute, and two die in a single second.  Friends, the numbers above present a staggering level of loss.  What can be done to counteract that loss?  Fortunately, we can take heart because a global bailout plan applicable to all humanity was implemented by God himself (Jn. 3:16-17; Eph. 1:5-8).  However, like the current measure offered by the President, heaven’s bailout plan must also be accepted by those to whom it is offered (Josh. 24:14-15; Matt. 11:28-30; Jn. 14:6).  To reject the plan is to reject its benefits.  Understand, friends.  A physical bailout plan is wonderful, but its effect is extremely limited (Mk. 8:36-37;  1 Jn. 2:15-17).  On the other hand, the one who accepts God’s bailout plan can be assured of superior returns both in this life and the one to come (1 Tim. 4:8).  Money is being lost in our economy, but so are human souls.  Extreme measures are being taken to save the one.  What are you doing to save the other?  Please think about it!
