West Broad Growth Groups
West Broad’s Growth Groups are comprised of church members gathered by geography. That is, persons in a given geographic area have been assigned to the same team. This makes it easier to get together and decreases driving time to meetings and activities. The Growth Groups have three objectives: (1) building member connection; (2) providing comfort, support, and encouragement; and (3) evangelism and outreach. The third objective is pursued as members invite unsaved friends and relatives to various Group events.
The G2s (Growth Groups) each have an Group Leader who is responsible for ensuring that the objectives of each group (see three items above) are met. The premise is simple: if we are connected to and encouraging each other in the Lord and reaching out to the unsaved in smaller groups, this will facilitate the accomplishment of these actions to a greater degree among the congregation as a whole. Our intent is to emulate the biblical model found in Acts 2:42 as we endeavor to share the gospel and love and build up each other in Jesus.
L.I.F.E. Talks Ministry
The Scriptures teach us to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2). With this in mind, the West Broad ChurchLove, Involvement, Fellowship, and Evangelism small group. The group meets at the church building on the second Monday evening from late winter to early spring. As the name suggests, the function of this group is to demonstrate Christ’s love to one another by being involved in each other’s lives and introducing unsaved friends and neighbors to Jesus as we bear witness to the powerful ways he has worked (and is working) in the lives of West Broad members. During these special times, we will pray, share, laugh, cry, and love together (John 13:34-35). Interested? Then we invite you to join us! meets for its
“We Care” Packages Ministry
The West Broad Church of Christ is pleased to work toward maintaining relationships with members (and friends) who are away in college or serving in our armed forces, overseas. To this end, we provide monthly “We Care” packages to remind them of our constant love, support, and prayers. Gifts are collected from members and friends during the first two weeks of each month during the academic year.
Leadership Development and Training
The prophet Hosea wrote about the unfortunate outcome of persons who refuse to pursue knowledge and instruction (Hos. 4:6). We do not want to experience this sorry state of affairs at West Broad. As such, every other month our men enjoy a morning of training and development designed to foster enhanced congregational productivity, maturity, and godliness. All West Broad men (and interested guests) are encouraged to attend.
“Mommy Monday” Ministry
Single mothers have a tremendous responsibility as they work to rear their children in the way that pleases God (Eph. 6:4). At West Broad, we appreciate their task and endeavor to provide a special time for mothers to recharge and relax. Our “Mommy Monday” evening consists of a delicious meal and informative, peer-led discussion. Monthly meetings are held on Monday evening during a portion of the spring and summer. There is no charge, and childcare is provided. All single mothers — members and guests — are invited to attend!
Transportation
West Broad’s transportation ministry exists to assist those persons who do not have a personal vehicle in getting to our functions and worship assemblies. Rides are provided via the church van and/or member pick-up. Persons requesting transportation should telephone the church office no later than one day before the event they wish to attend.
Media
We live in an information culture, and West Broad makes every effort to ensure that information regarding our work and ministry is readily available. Our media ministry includes web site production, audio recordings, worship service technical support, and printed materials for congregational use and area distribution.
Curriculum Development and Education
Accurate communication of God’s story is paramount in order for persons to learn of him and walk favorably in his sight (Deut. 6:6-7; Matt. 7:24-27). West Broad’s curriculum development and education ministry exists to assist in this objective. Ministry participants work to secure and/or prepare age-appropriate Bible curricula that will facilitate interest in and retention of the word of God. With curricula in hand, able teachers at the children’s, intermediate, teen, and adult levels work to ensure that classes are challenging, informative, relevant, and fun.
Events Coordination
West Broad conducts various initiatives throughout the year for the congregation and community. Persons involved in the events coordination ministry work to promote the smooth accomplishment of these initiatives by observing appropriate logistical, communication, personnel, and materials and supplies concerns.
Facilities Maintenance
This ministry exists to ensure that West Broad’s physical space is kept clean, attractive, inviting, and comfortable. Several teams work on a weekly basis to make sure that worshipers encounter a building that is a source of both pride and praise!
Benevolence
Scripture teaches that people of faith must be about the business of doing good (Gal. 6:10). This is the reason for our benevolence ministry at West Broad. In our urban context, we often encounter people (including members) who are in need of assistance. This might include help with food, shelter, utilities, or clothing. A specified amount of money is budgeted each month to meet these needs as we endeavor to reach out to our family and friends with the love of Jesus.
Ladies’ Study and Fellowship
This ministry exists to aid in the spiritual and relational development of West Broad women (and their guests). Meetings and projects are coordinated and conducted throughout the year for the purposes of biblical exploration and sisterly connection and love.
