Showers and Blessings in Downtown Richmond

March 31, 2009

You have head the adage, “April showers bring May flowers.” At the spring-flowers-31West Broad Church of Christ, we expand this notion and apply it to human efforts today that yield blessings from God tomorrow (1 Cor. 3:6-7).  A great spiritual need exists in our city.  Many people are hollow, empty, and longing for a sense of purpose and place of belonging.  Other people have already taken steps to fill their emptiness and find meaning.  Unfortunately, they have done so in ways that displease the Lord (Eph. 5:3-6).

How will our church respond?  It’s simple: we will ask God for “April showers.”  During these “showers” we will share Christ’s truth.  We will engage and serve folks who are broken and lonely.  And we will humbly and obediently seek the face of God ourselves in order that we might be better able, by his grace, to share the gospel with our neighbors (1 Cor. 9:27).

And what happens after April showers?  You guessed it — May flowers! Flowers of renewal.  Flowers of rescue.  Flowers relief in Jesus (Psa. 119:93, Matt. 11:28).  If you are “ready for the rain,” leave your slicker at home and join us this Sunday.  We’ll be looking for you!
