Providing Hope and Help to the Homeless
March 29, 2010
Scripture makes clear the expectation God has for his people to care for those who are in need (Deut. 15:7-8; 1 Jn. 3:17-18). With this truth in view, the West Broad Church of Christ opened its building during the week of March 22-28 and provided services for clients of CARITAS (Congregations Around Richmond Involved to Assure Shelter).
We offered our building for use as an intake site for homeless women. The ladies met at our location before being transported to their place of shelter for the night. West Broadians provided drinks, snacks, hospitality, and the care of Christ each evening from 5:30 to 7:00. Please pray for CARITAS staff and clients as the former endeavors to help the latter secure the most basic of human needs — shelter.
