Our Lord prayed for his followers to be one (Jn. 17:20-21).  Unfortunately, the negative actions of humans have long collided with the will of God.  This is true in terms of racial relations, as well.  African-American and Caucasian Christians believe in the same God; they just tend to serve him separate and apart from each another.

Well, West Broad is working toward a solution.  We have launched an initiative called Race for the CrossRace for the Cross is a ministry which will allow saints from predominantly Black and White churches to work together in a concerted way to form enhanced relationships.  We are pleased to have the cooperation of the Three Chopt Church of Christ as we begin this effort.

How will it all work?  Members from each congregation will be paired into “relay teams.”  These teams will build relationship in three ways: through service times, sacred times, and social times.  As participants engage in these actvities (which they determine and schedule), they get to know one another in more than a superficial way.  As a result, the bonds of love, respect, and fellowship will be deepened.

More than forty persons are currently involved in Race for the Cross.  If you would like to learn how your church can be part of this exciting, Christ-centered endeavor, please contact us. We hope to hear from you soon.
